Bringing Smiles to Cleft Children Undergoing Surgeries!
Welcome to Monte's Bears for Clefts! Monte's Bears was created on behalf of my son, Monte.
Monte was born with a unilateral cleft lip and palate of his left side. He is now 3 years old and has gone through 2 cleft related surgeries. When Monte was to undergo his first surgery at just 3 months old, my mother and I created a bear with a matching scar for Monte to love and give him comfort during recovery. That bear has since been to every appointment and procedure Monte has had. I had overwhelming requests for a bear from other cleft mom's, for their little one to have during upcoming surgeries and procedures. This, MBFC was formed.
MBFC was started in October of 2011, and has since given over 260 bears WORLDWIDE to cleft children undergoing cleft related surgeries and procedures. We are able to send bears to children through the help of "sponsor families". Sponsors are vital to success. Sponsor Families are used to purchase, add the "surgery" and mail each bear to cleft children who have requested to receive one.
It is our mission to create a bear with a matching scar to bring happiness to children while undergoing multiple surgeries and procedures as well as to promote Cleft Awareness.
